Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Fans can expect learning which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
